A 30-60-90 presentation can make or break a job offer.
Here’s how to think about it for your next AE or SE leader interview. 👇
From what we see, most misses are the same:
- They’re vague.
- They stay high-level.
- They don’t clearly prove you’ve done it before.
Hiring panels don’t just want ideas. They want evidence you can plan, prioritize, and deliver in their world.
5 ways to crush your 30-60-90 presentation
1. Treat every prior interview as discovery
The best 30-60-90 presentations are built on what you’ve learned.
Use earlier conversations to understand goals, priorities, and challenges. Then reference those conversations during your presentation:
“Steve, you mentioned X is critical. Here’s exactly how I’d approach it…”
That only works if you actually captured what they said.
So treat your interview conversations like discovery calls and take notes on them the same way. Use a notetaker (Granola, Otter, Fathom, whatever you like) instead of relying on memory.
By the time you sit down to build the plan, you have talked to a recruiter, a hiring manager, a peer, and maybe a CRO. Their priorities blur together fast, and the specific phrasing is the first thing to go.
Good notes let you go back and pull the exact language each person used. Quoting someone’s own words back to them is the fastest credibility you can build in that room.
That is a big part of how strong 30-60-90 plans actually get built. Not better slides. Better notes.
2. Nail the metrics
Be ambitious, but realistic.
- Too aggressive = amateur. It can signal that you don’t yet understand the role or complexity of the sale.
- Too soft = underachiever. It can make the plan feel low-impact.
To do this well, you MUST understand the sales motion, cycle length, avg deal size, etc.
Make sure to do your research and ask these questions early.
Ask what success looks like in 90 days, then work backwards.
3. Be specific and share examples
Show how you’ll hit specific outcomes.
Don’t just say, “increase engagement.” Share 1–2 tactics you’d use. Bonus points if you can show how you’ve successfully done it in the past.
Concrete examples create instant credibility.
4. Show strategic thinking and clear progression
A strong plan should show how your focus changes over time:
- 30 days: Learn and align.
- 60 days: Execute and iterate.
- 90 days: Own and expand.
Include milestones, risk checks, and how you’ll keep leadership informed.
5. Present like you sell
Tell a story.
Use clear visuals.
Make it conversational, engaging, and enthusiastic.
End with a call to action and openly invite feedback.
The bottom line
A strong 30-60-90 is both visionary and tactical.
It should give the hiring team confidence in your ability to strategize and actually execute.
Provide one without the other, and you’ll miss the mark.
